Ancient dumplings discovered in western China

Archaeologists in the far western Xinjiang region of China have uncovered dumplings believed to be 1700 years old.

The discovery was made inside ancient tombs near Turpan. The crescent-shaped dumplings were not unlike those served in China today and are thought to have been made out of wheat flour and contained meat. It is believed that dumplings, along with other foodstuffs like fruit, were placed in tombs to ensure a bountiful passage into the afterlife. Read more: shanghaiist.com
