Each year, the Chinese city of Harbin is transformed into a fairy-tale world of ice, snow and lights at the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival.

The annual event takes place in the capital of the northern Hēilóngjiāng province, luring in eager visitors from around the world. While guests will have to brave the cold for the month-long festival, they will be greeted with snow slides, sculptures and so much more. Spread out across multiple venues, travellers can wander around to see numerous exhibitions at the festival, but the biggest – and most expensive – is the Harbin Ice and Snow World, which will feature some of the most stunning attractions.

The festival runs until 5 February in 2019 and you can find out more about Harbin here.
