Seven-Eleven in Japan to offer tax-free purchases to foreign tourists

As of today, two Seven-Eleven convenience stores in areas of Tokyo and Kyoto that serve large numbers of tourists, will allow foreigners to make tax-free purchases. At the two stores, tourists can show their passports at the designated window to avoid paying the 8% consumption tax. There are plans to roll the tax-free initiative out to 1000 Seven-Eleven stores across Japan by the end of 2015. Read more: asia.nikkei.com
