Take a peek inside a new exhibit dedicated to '2001: A Space Odyssey'

One of the most visionary films of the past 50 years is getting the royal treatment with a comprehensive new exhibition at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, New York. “Envisioning 2001: Stanley Kubrick’s Space Odyssey” examines the inspiration and influences behind the legendary director’s sci-fi tour de force, his production process, and the groundbreaking special effects that won him – somewhat controversially, and utterly mind-bogglingly – his first and only Academy Award.

“It is especially fitting that this exhibition will be presented here at MoMI, where screening 2001 in its original 70mm format has become an annual tradition, and our public spaces, including the spectacular Redstone Theater, are deliberately evocative of the film,” MoMI executive director Carl Goodman said in a press release. “2001: A Space Odyssey has influenced generations of directors and artists, and continues to captivate audiences around the world.”
