The old Smith Opera House is indeed an oddity. It was built in 1882 and is rather bovine in its proportions and outlook. The building opened in 1883, but within a year was sold in a repossession sale and divided up into apartments. Its design, a homely mash-up of Italianate and Victorian styles, now serves as office space.
It's not clear whether opera was ever performed in the Smith Opera House.
